I am so excited and thankful to be part of the Little Explorer Community at Riverside. Directing a Faith based Program has been a professional goal for many years, and I am looking forward to getting to know each family that we serve.

I’m a Colorado native from Golden. My experience in Early Childhood Education has been over 20 years.  Prior to serving at Little Explorers Riverside, I was as the Co-Director at the Golden Community Preschool. I’ve also worked for the Jefferson County Head Start Program. My Bachelor’s degree is in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Psychology and Early Childhood Education.  When not at the Child Development Center, I try to keep up with my husband, and 5 kiddos between the ages of 7 & 24. I’m an avid volleyball, gymnastics, hockey, & horse mom.

Co-Director

I am thrilled to have this role among Little Explorers Preschool.  I received my B.A Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies/Early Childhood Education with a K-3 Teaching Licensure from the University of Northern Colorado. Over the last 5 years, I have taken on a number of roles within very diverse classrooms. I have spent time in small privately owned, large cooperate and public school settings.  Each of these opportunities have greatly inspired my educational philosophy as well as my deep love for the early childhood education realm. It is an absolute privilege to partner and come along side families in this capacity. It is a beautiful thing to be a part of a program that looks to support and provide for the community through this ministry.

Miss Kim
Teacher

Hello! I am Kim McGinn a native of Colorado. My wonderful husband Greg and my two amazing kids John 12 and Allyson 9, just purchased a house in Lakewood. We also have two cute dogs named Daisy and Ruby, both are yellow labs.

I have been in education all my adult life. When I was in college I began my teaching career as a substitute teacher. I substitute taught for several years. I loved the challenges that substituting can bring. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in K-12 Physical Education from Metro State College, I received my first teaching position as a Kindergarten Teacher in Mapleton School District. It was hard to find a PE teaching position at the time, so I was thrilled to get the Kindergarten teaching position. While teaching Kindergarten I went back to school to get my master’s degree in English Language Learners. Even though I don’t speak another language, I have the understanding how to teach children who are learning English.
After five years of teaching Kindergarten, I got a PE position in Adams 12 five star schools. It was a brand new elementary school that I was at for 7 years. I loved it, and it was truly an amazing experience. Unfortunately, all that time on my feet as a PE teacher was hard on my body, but worst of all my feet.  So, I began taking classes and teaching Preschool part time for the City of Golden, which was not as physically demanding, and has prepared me for the position here at Little Explorers Child Development Center. I’m so excited to be helping start a new program!

Miss Sarah
Infant & Toddler Supervisor

It has been a dream to lead a faith-based program like this alongside such kind, spirit-filled people. My Associates Degree in Elementary Education has given me practical knowledge, whereas my natural passion for serving others, and experience working with children has given me an intuitive sense for teaching, and leading.

When I’m away from the Preschool, you can usually find me outside with my kids, or doing something crafty! I enjoy photography, painting, sewing, and graphic design —just to name a few.

I’m excited to serve the families of Denver and be part of what God’s doing through this Preschool.

Miss Chelsea
Teacher

Hello friends! My name is Chelsea Elder and I am native to Colorado. I live just about 5 miles away from my childhood home. I graduated from Liberty University in Virginia where I met my husband. We have been married since 2014 and have two beautiful children Hannah Joy and Jackson Ryan. I spend majority of my time with my kiddos, baking, watching Netflix and doing stuff with our student ministry.

I have my bachelor of science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I focused my studies in Family and Child Development, Youth Ministry, and Psychology of Adolescents. Being a part of Little Explorers allows me to fulfill two of my passions, ministry and people. I love people, from birth to high school. I have a passion to love them and share Jesus with them.

I am so excited to be part of Little Explorers and getting to know all the families we will be serving.   I feel honored that I get this opportunity to serve in a Faith based Program, something I feel God has lead me to.  I call myself a native of Colorado, having been here since high school, but spent most of my school years as an Air Force brat, traveling all over the county.

I have a BA in Communications with an emphasis in Mass Media and Theatre.  I have been working with many theatre companies as their Production/Stage Manager.  When my daughter Shaelan, now 7, started Pre-K, I started volunteering at her schools, helping out in the classrooms, libraries and after school events.  But it has just been in the past year, I felt this desire to work with children again.  So, I’m stepping out of my theatre career and am starting a new one.
Not only with the volunteer work, I also have experience with children at Primerose, where I was the Assistant Teacher for the kindergarten class, at Whiz Kidz where I tutor 1st graders in reading and math, and for many years at my home church helping out with VBS, and children’s church.  I also did a year working in the cafeteria at a public school, helping kids K-8 make good eating choices.

In my spare time, I love to read, paint and write.  I also spend a lot of time outside, camping and playing with my daughter and spending that much needed time with my husband.

I am a recent college graduate and new to the Denver area. I am really excited to begin my career in early childhood education with the Little Explorers family and am grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of this community. I grew up on a farm in New Hampshire and attended Bates College in Maine where I was a member of the soccer team and sailing club. I graduated with a B.A in Neuroscience and had the opportunity to study brain development as well as volunteer in a variety of classrooms in the community. I have always loved working with children and grew up babysitting for families in my community and served as the caretaker for my church nursery for several years. In my free time, I enjoy walking dogs, practicing yoga, playing the ukulele and snowboarding. I can't wait to meet you all and begin teaching!
