I am so excited and thankful to be part of the Little Explorer Community at Riverside. Directing a Faith based Program has been a professional goal for many years, and I am looking forward to getting to know each family that we serve.

I’m a Colorado native from Golden. My experience in Early Childhood Education has been over 20 years.  Prior to serving at Little Explorers Riverside, I was the Co-Director at the Golden Community Preschool. I’ve also worked for the Jefferson County Head Start Program. My Bachelor’s degree is in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Psychology and Early Childhood Education.  When not at the Child Development Center, I try to keep up with my husband, and 5 kiddos between the ages of 9 & 26. I’m an avid volleyball, gymnastics, hockey, & horse mom.

I am thrilled to be a part of this team here Little Explorers Preschool.  I received my B.A Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies/Early Childhood Education with a K-3 Teaching Licensure and Director Certification from the University of Northern Colorado. Over the last 5 years, I have taken on a number of diverse roles in various aged classrooms. I have spent time in small privately owned, large corporate and public school settings.  Each of these opportunities has greatly inspired my educational philosophy as well as my deep love for the early childhood education realm. It is an absolute privilege to come alongside families in this special season of life and it is a beautiful thing to be a part of a program that looks to support and provide for our community through a ministry such as this.

Teacher & Infant/Toddler Supervisor

Hello! I am Kim McGinn a native of Colorado. My wonderful husband Greg and my two amazing kids John 13 and Allyson 10, just purchased a house in Lakewood. We also have two cute dogs named Daisy and Ruby, both are yellow labs.

I have been in education all of my adult life. When I was in college I began my teaching career as a substitute teacher. I substitute taught for several years. I loved the challenges that substituting brought. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in K-12 Physical Education from Metro State College, I received my first teaching position as a Kindergarten Teacher in Mapleton School District. It was hard to find a PE teaching position at the time so I was thrilled to get the Kindergarten teaching position. While teaching Kindergarten I went back to school to get my master’s degree in English Language Learners. Even though I don’t speak another language, I have the understanding how to teach children who are learning English.
After five years of teaching Kindergarten, I got a PE position in Adams 12 five star schools. It was a brand new elementary school that I was at for 7 years. I loved it, and it was truly an amazing experience. Unfortunately, all that time on my feet as a PE teacher was hard on my body, but worst of all my feet.  So, I began taking classes and teaching Preschool part time for the City of Golden, which was not as physically demanding, and has prepared me for the position here at Little Explorers Child Development Center. I’m so excited to be helping start a new program!

Teacher & Curriculum Supervisor

Hello! I’m Sarah, I’ve lived in the Denver Metro area my entire life. It has been a dream to be part of a faith-based program like this alongside such kind, spirit-filled people. My education has given me practical knowledge, whereas my love for God, desire for serving others, and experience working with children has given me a passion for teaching, and leading.

I love music, art, swimming, and… Netflix! When I’m away from the Preschool, you can usually find me outside with my kids, or doing something crafty! I enjoy photography, painting, sewing, and graphic design —just to name a few.

I’m excited to serve the families of Denver and be part of what God’s doing through this Preschool.

Hello! I am Christina Ziccardi, one of the new Preschool Teachers at Riverside!  I have been a teacher in elementary schools in Brighton and DPS for the past 10 years in multiple grade levels.  I got my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wyoming in Elementary Education followed by my master’s degree from CU Denver in Educational Administration and Policy Studies.  I recently obtained my early childhood education endorsement and can’t wait to teach preschool!

My husband and I just had our first child, Amelia Rose.  We are absolutely in love with our sweet little one.  We are both Denver natives and live in this wonderful neighborhood.  We enjoy all CO outdoor activities, sports and spending time with our local families and friends! I can’t wait to join and serve the riverside community! Teaching is my passion and I am very excited to start teaching preschool at little Explorers and create great relationships with the staff and families that I’ll serve!

I am so excited to be part of Little Explorers and getting to know all the families we will be serving.   I feel honored that I get this opportunity to serve in a Faith based Program, something I feel God has lead me to.  I call myself a native of Colorado, having been here since high school, but spent most of my school years as an Air Force brat, traveling all over the county.

I have a BA in Communications with an emphasis in Mass Media and Theatre.  I have been working with many theatre companies as their Production/Stage Manager.  When my daughter Shaelan, now 8, started Pre-K, I started volunteering at her schools, helping out in the classrooms, libraries and after school events.  But it has just been in the past year, I felt this desire to work with children again.  So, I’m stepping out of my theatre career and am starting a new one.
Not only with the volunteer work, I also have experience with children at Primerose, where I was the Assistant Teacher for the kindergarten class, at Whiz Kidz where I tutored first graders in reading and math, and for many years at my home church helping out with VBS and children’s church.  I also did a year working in the cafeteria at a public school helping kids K-8 make good eating choices.

In my spare time, I love to read, paint and write.  I also spend a lot of time outside, camping and playing with my daughter and spending that much needed time with my husband.

I am a recent college graduate and new to the Denver area. I am really excited to begin my career in early childhood education with the Little Explorers family and am grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of this community. I grew up on a farm in New Hampshire and attended Bates College in Maine where I was a member of the soccer team and sailing club. I graduated with a B.A in Neuroscience and had the opportunity to study brain development as well as volunteer in a variety of classrooms in the community. I have always loved working with children and grew up babysitting for families in my community and served as the caretaker for my church nursery for several years. In my free time, I enjoy walking dogs, practicing yoga, playing the ukulele and snowboarding. I can't wait to meet you all and begin teaching!

I have just recently moved to Denver from Florida. I am very excited to be a part of the Little Explorers team as well as building up the children. My passion is creating an atmosphere for kids to have an oasis where they can learn, play, and grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I received my bachelors degree in Elementary Education and am, at the moment, pursuing my masters in Mental Health & Counseling in order to further uplift the youngsters of our world. It is my pleasure and joy to serve and love the children that come to the Little Explorers program.

Personally, I have grown up in an active home and thus found a deep love in soccer. Here I found myself playing all the way through college and now enjoy playing in adult leagues. I have fallen in love with rabbits, due to me growing up with them, and enjoy spending time in the great outdoors. A few other hobbies I revel in include hiking, working out, reading, photography, and enjoying fellowship with my friends.

I have been married for 14 years and have three children, Fabian is 14, Gabriel is 12, and Sadie 2. I have been an Early Childhood Educator for over 20 years!  I started working with children after graduating high school and my experience has been ongoing ever since.  I attended the Community College of Denver and received my Director Qualification in 2007.  I have since been working on completing my BA in Human Development with a minor in Early Childhood Education at Metropolitan State University.

I have had many wonderful experiences working with children in various roles and capacities including public schools, private centers, managing my own drop in center, state agencies, and most recently Early Head Start.

I am very excited about beginning a new experience at Little Explorers as an Infant/Toddler Teacher!  I look forward to being a part of this faith based program and community.

I am a senior at Columbine High School and I am very excited to see where my first opportunity working in a classroom setting will take me. Growing up in a Christian home, it is such a blessing to be able to work in a faith-based program surrounded by other believers. I grew up with 1 older sibling and 3 younger, who have taught me many things, such as patience, that are essential when working with children. In my free time I enjoy playing volleyball and improving my photography. I am a Golden, Colorado native and I love our mountains to go hiking, camping, and skiing. I’m very excited to travel after graduation and take some Early Childhood Education classes to become Lead qualified.

I am excited to be part of the Little Explorers Preschool community. I am originally from Burundi, East Africa and moved to Colorado in 2009. I received my B.A Degree in Psychology with a minor in Intercultural Ministries from Colorado Christian University. I intend to pursue a Master’s in Marriage/Family Counselling. After graduating high school in 2014, I volunteered and worked part time at The Boys and Girls Club After School Program and at the St. John’s Church and school summer camp as a camp counselor for 1st and 2nd graders. I had the opportunity to work with kids and through camp activities shared the love of Christ and the true meaning of our existence. Here at Little Explorers Preschool, Jesus Christ continues to be the center of the teaching and activities, and I am excited to continue to share the love of Christ openly with the children and staff without hesitation. I sing in the choir at my local church and teach Sunday school as well. I love spending time with close family and friends, hiking, and playing soccer. I love working with kids and this is a great opportunity for me to serve.
