A Note from Tony

Faith Family,
Let me begin by saying thank you for the way you have expressed your love for Michael & Nicole over the last couple of weeks. It is a good sign when people understand God’s anointing on a man and respond with a spirit of support. Well done!

I know many of you are wondering what is next. So am I! In discussions and prayer with our trustees here is what I do know. We are committed to finding the right interim combination to cover all our worship leadership needs. I am encouraged by the network of worship leadership I have been able to develop and believe our future is bright.

As I write this to you we have secured interim leadership for the Trailhead for at least the next nine weeks. By the way our attendance this past Wednesday was AWESOME with several new people as well. The move to the chapel has been great!

We are also set for the next three Sunday mornings. We will be using three different people and we have great confidence in at least two of them…Looks like I will be leading our team on the 17th. Hey, two out of three is not bad!

Our plan is to continue to wait for God to reveal who this interim leadership needs to be. Once He does this we will then begin to turn our attention to a variety of staff needs. As you are aware we are currently down several staff positions. While we do not plan to replace all of these, the proper combination will be critical as we proceed. I do not anticipate this happening fast.

I close with these three thoughts:
1. Please pray! No really, pray. Like right now would be a good time before you forget!
2. We want God’s choice for leadership not ours and certainly not mine. This (may) look much different than in the past depending on the combination God provides.
3. Our passion is to do everything possible to strengthen our overall worship ministry and see it as something that is compelling to all generations. That certainly includes the choral portion and increasing opportunities for others to utilize their gifts.

Hope leads, humbled to be allowed,
Pastor Tony

New faces, guests who returned, the faithfulness of our members and an incredible day of worship! This past Sunday was great! And so was last Wednesday night as the Trailhead moved to the chapel!

I hope you continue to see all that God is doing here at Riverside. And I hope you see how your obedience to the Lord serves as a great example of what it means to store up for yourselves treasures in heaven. Just because we are on the other side of Easter, don’t forget that you can still keep winning one for the Kingdom!

This weekend is full of opportunities! Our students will participate in a local service project called “My Judea” – our ladies will gather for a tea on Saturday morning – and many will gather on Saturday night to enjoy a fun time of volleyball! I love it when our people get together to spend time with one another AND invite others to join them. Whether or not it is one of these events, I hope you will continue to look for opportunities to invite others into biblical community! Keep up to date by visiting the calendar on our website at riversidedenver.com!

On Sunday, we will stop and thank Michael and Nicole for their service to Riverside. I know that I’m not the only one who will miss them! It’s always hard to see staff members transition to a new ministry because of the love we have for them. It is also very healthy for a congregation to recognize when God calls someone out and send them off to their new assignment. God has used them in great ways during their time here. Please be sure to express how thankful you are to them!

I look forward to seeing you either Wednesday or Sunday!

Jesus is alive!

I have to admit I slept pretty hard Sunday night. I am really not sure what took place between about 2:30 yesterday afternoon and 5:30 Monday morning. When I woke up I honestly wondered if I had been dreaming. From the weather to the breakfast and the volunteers all over campus I am not sure it could have been a better day!

But then we gathered to worship. Oh my! And did you see what God did? You were asked to allow God to use you as an instrument to reach people with the gospel. Yesterday was just another reminder that He blesses faithfulness. Of the crowd that responded at the end were two ladies that my daughter had invited and I was able to talk to them after the service. The story is amazing! God still changes lives! I wish everyone could have seen the look on all those faces, many with tears flowing, as I had the honor of standing in front of them as we closed.

The scripture reveals to us clearly that there were mixed emotions the day following the resurrection of Jesus. People responded in a variety of ways. Let me encourage you as you face the real world to respond in light of the resurrection! It makes all the difference.

I hope to see you Sunday, if not before, as we finish the rest of the message of 1 Corinthians 15.

With great love!
Pastor Tony

It is so good to be back home! Our Israel trip was absolutely incredible. It could not have been a better place to be in the time leading up to Easter. Thank you for praying for us. If you haven’t seen the pictures on our Facebook page, you should check them out!

This past Sunday was incredible! I hope you enjoyed the Lord’s Supper as much as I did. It was so powerful to see everyone come forward to the Lord’s table. We will continue the series “Remember” this Easter Sunday as we keep remembering the death and resurrection of Jesus!  Please be sure you are thinking about who you are going to bring with you! 9a pancake breakfast and worship will be at 10:30a!

Don’t forget...The Trailhead is Moving…to the Chapel starting this week! I cannot say thank you enough for all of you who made our chapel renovations possible. Please stop by and see the great progress that has been made if you haven’t already seen it. Because of your sacrificial giving, we are able to move the Trailhead into a much more intimate setting!

Please be sure you are thinking about who you are going to bring with you! 9:00 pancake breakfast and worship will be at 10:30!

A gentleman from San Diego on a business trip got lost exploring Denver. It “just so happened” that he saw our Riverside tower and came in to see what was going on. He came into our worship center, sat down and heard the gospel – and yes, I bet you know what happened next! He gave his life to Christ! YES!

Students and student leaders celebrated Jesus…and heaven celebrated as one man surrendered his life to Jesus!

March is quickly coming upon us and we will spend special time focusing on the Lord’s Supper….you will not want to miss the weeks leading up to Easter! Speaking of Easter…we’ll have our pancake breakfast at 9am (No Small Groups) and worship will be at 10:30. Who are you bringing with you?!?!

Here are a few other things to make sure are on your radar:

March 13 – Pre-Teen Skating Trip. A fun outing for our pre-teens right after church. See Karen Bransgrove for more details.

March 23 – The Trailhead is Moving…to the Chapel! I cannot say thank you enough for all of you who made our chapel renovations possible. Please stop by and see the great progress that has been made. Because of this, we are able to move the Trailhead into a much more intimate setting!

If you have been on the south end of our campus, you will see the improvements on the garden level around the children’s area! I’m so happy to say that we’ve been able to begin to make the necessary improvements for our weekday preschool. This new egress for the preschool area is a part of the improvements and it is great to be able to say that a majority of those costs were
funded through outside grants we received! Our next steps will be to make the necessary improvements to our fire detection system. This is something that is not only a must have for the preschool area, but the entire worship center facility. This project will take a significant amount of time. As soon as we have a better idea of the timeline, we will have a better understanding of
when we can project the opening of a preschool. For those of you who may not know, this is a critical piece for us in our overall strategy to serve, and reach, our community around us!

Finally, our Israel discipleship trip is quickly coming and I cannot wait to have this time with so many of you! Pray for us as there will be almost 40 people from Riverside going to explore the places Jesus walked!

Love you all!
